AVChat 2 Features Galore:

Live video and audio directly from your web cam/microphone

AVChat 2 provides live audio and video transfer between users. As a webmaster you have full control over the quality of the audio and video and the bandwidth used by each stream.

AVChat 2 is using the video/audio capturing capabilities of the Flash Player in conjunction with Flash Media Server. The audio/video is first captured and encoded by AVChat running in the users browser, then it it sent to the Flash Media Server from where it is routed to all the users subscribed to that audio/video stream.

Text chat only mode

The audio and video capabilities of the software can be turned off, thus remaining with a simple text chat sofwtare with rooms support! The audio video features can also be turned on or off for each user in particular. For example if you want only moderators to be able to send audio and video.

Record everything (new in AVChat 2.1)

You can record every audio/video stream coming from the users in separate .flv files. Each user gets its own .flv audio/video file each time he logs in and start sending auiod and/or video. The newly crated .flv files will be stored on the FMS server and can be put on your webserver for later downloading/viewing.

View and hear 2,3 or more video/audio streams (persons) at the same time

The new interface in AVChat 2 allows users to view as many video streams as they want. The number of video streams they can see at one time can be limited by modifying the configuration file.

Zoom in/out video areas using the mouse wheel

All video areas can be zoomed in up to 7x and zoomed out up to 0.5x by using the wheel on your mouse. Pretty neat we say! :)

Full control over the video and audio quality

AVChat 2 uses a .xml file to load the web cam and microphone setting to use. Within that .xml file you can change: picture resolution and picture quality, maximum bandwidth to use, frames/second and keyframes/second and audio quality.

By default AVChat 2 comes with 6 video/audio profiles (.xml files) to choose from, 2 for 56kbits/s, 2 for 128kbits/s and 2 for 256kbits/s video bandwidth scenarios. The online demo uses the 128k-low-motion-high-picture-quality-one!

Public/private rooms support

Users, admins and webmasters can all create private (password protected) or public rooms. Also you can block people from joining or creating other rooms

Runs in Flash Player 8 or newer

Your users do not have to download any special plugin as AVChat 2 runs in Flash Player 8 which is installed on over 95% of the computers connected to the Internet. AVChat 2 will run directly in the users browser (IE,Firefox, Safari on Windows/Mac/Linux).

Embed it in a web page or open it up in a popup window.

If desired, the video chat software can be inserted into any page of your website or it can be opened in a separate popup window.

Drop users into certain rooms directly (no need to go trough the lobby)

Each room has it's own unique id. You can use this id in the configuration file so that users get dropped directly into that room when they log into AVChat 2

Prevent users from logging in twice

The chat has an internal mechanism that prevents a user from opening and logging in the chat by opening 2 browser windows on the same computer.

User list with identification icons.

The user list has several functions: display the gender of the user/ display the username of the user, display a cam icon besides the user if he is sending video, display a speaker icon besides the user if he is sending video, show a small message besides each user who is watching your cam

[Buzz] and [View Profile] buttons

You can now use the [Buzz] button to buzz someone. Also a new button labeled "View Profile" is now present, which can be configured to take you to the users profile.

External users list (new in AVChat 2.1)

AVChat 2.1 generates an .xml rooms+users list file on the web server which you can use to display on your website the users (and number of users) logged in the video chat software at any moment and every available room (and type of room).

Banner friendly

You can place advertising (banners,AdSense, video, links, etc...) anywhere around the video chat software. The software consists in a .swf file embedded in a HTML page. In that HTML page you can place anything you want.

Automatic "who's watching me" function

Besides each user in the users list that is watching your video/audio stream, a text message: "views my cam" is displayed.

Admin Section with kick, ban and ip view

Using the admin section you can view the ip of each user, you can kick users, you can ban users by their ip's, and you can delete rooms.

Hidden admins

When using the admin interface to log in by default one can select between being a hidden or visible admin. You can change this in the configuration file and only allow for visible admins for example. Also admins have by default access to private rooms, but this can be changed also.

Male, female-female and male-female couple genders

At the request of numerous clients AVChat 2 now allows people to log in using 3 different genders: male , female and couple. The couple gender can be disabled from the configuration file, but if you want no gender at all you can disable the entire gender option (new in AVChat 2.1).

Many integration options with CMS systems.

After integrating the AVChat config file with your content management system, you can set different values for each option in the configuration file based on the level of the user. These being said you can :

• prevent some users from sending/receiving video/audio
• give only limited video time to certain users
• prevent some from viewing more than 1 video/audio stream at a time
• drop certain users in certain rooms
• etc...

AVChat 2 comes standard with a Joomla component, but it can be integrated with any other CMS system.

Bad words filter

This filter automatically cesores forbidden words.

Bad nicks filter

A nick/username filter which you can use to prevent users from logging in as admin or administrator for example.

Links filter

You can disallow link in the text chat by turning the links filter on. Any link typed in the text chat instead of being highlighted it will be censored.

Highlight links

If you will allow links in the text chat, our software automatically parses them and turns them into veritable links (blue underlined).

Move and resize the flash interface elements

All the interface elements can be dragged using the mouse, and can be resized by clicking and dragging the red lower right corners. In addition the interface elements automatically position themselves and resize according to the size of the flash area available to AVChat in the HTML web page. Also the video areas can be zoomed in/out using the wheel on your mouse.

Private messages in separate windows

This is a feature that has been requested for a very long time by our customers. Whenever you send a private message to someone , a small new text chat window opens up. All the private discussion between you and that user will be taken to that window inside the AVChat interface.

Screen Sharing using third party software

You can share your desktop screen with other people (or even send prerecorded movies as your web cam feed) just as if you were sharing your web cam. Contact us before buying for more info on this topic.

Secure encrypted text/video/audio connections

All the data (audio,video,text) exchanged between the users and the Flash Media Server can be encrypted using SSL certificates or rtmpe. Contact us for more info on this topic.

Text chat transcripts

All private/public text chat is kept in logs (text files) on the FMS server for later analysis. Each room gets its own text log each day.

Chat history

When a user joins a room, he can see what was previously being discussed in that room. The ammount of text chat lines he can see can be configured.

Block a user

This option allows a user to block all the messages and PM chat requests of other users.

Can be easily translated into other languages

All the texts used in the 2 flash interfaces (user&admin) can be changed in an external .xml file that can be edited with any text editor. This way AVChat 2 supports any language, even right to left languages like Arabic. Special characters like ş,ţ,ă,î,etc... are also supported!

Joomla (1.x and 1.5) components

If your website runs on Joomla you're in luck because we wrapped AVChat as Joomla components and they integrate seamlessly with your users database.

Drupal modules

If your website runs on Drupal, we have AVChat 2 wrapped in a Drupal module. Once you install the module in your website the users will have the same username in the site and in the chat and you can set several permissions based on user groups.
