Every time we start developing a new AVChat build we carefully plan what we will add, taking into consideration client feature requests and also features that we feel are needed to take AVChat forward. Here are all the features added since the last final build 2768.

New Features For Desktop Client

  1. New Pay Per View API. More details can be found in the documentation.
  2. Revamped Share Window. You can now post on your social accounts (Facebook and Twitter), invite friends from Facebook to join the chat, and also an embed code is generated for AVChat.
  3. Twitter Authentication. More details on how to setup AVChat can be found in the documentation.
  4. Users can invite other users to their created rooms. Any user that has created 1 or more rooms can invite any other user to join a particular room. Links for the created rooms will be displayed in the user’s side menu.
    The invitation will show up in the text chat to the invited user like so:
    This feature is controlled by the new setting usersCanInviteToRoom.
  5. Users can invite other users to view their webcam. A broadcasting user can invite any other user to view their broadcast via the user side menu:

  6. Avatars are now  shown in the text chat area. Can be controlled using the new setting showAvatarsInTextChat.
    Additionally if the user has a profile (integrated AVChat) clicking the avatar will open a new window with the user’s profile page.
  7. Updates to the Report User Feature:
    * Now admins can delete multiple reports at once.
    * Added 2 new buttons (Copy user IP and Copy username)
    * The Reports button from the status bar now constantly shows the total number of reports          and when a new report is added a small notifier will appear in the upper right corner of the          Report button.
    * Reports that have no active webcam screenshot taken will no longer have the View camera      snapshot button enabled.
  8. New customization options. Added new options in style.xml  to allow the further customizations of the buttons(corner radius, enabling/disabling gradient overlay, border width, enabling/disabling of icon and label shadow). The [send] button can now also be customized individually (fontcolor, fontsize and background color).
  9.  Multiple entries for the same emote icon. Any emote icon can now have multiple codes assigned to them. More details in the documentation.(Some things you should know section).
  10. PM tabs are now grouped with their respective room tab.
  11. The UI scrollbar is now only shown if content scroll is needed.
  12. The rotating messages script now also load images. Animated GIFs are not supported by Flash. SWFs are not loaded for security reasons.
  13. A loading animation is now shown in the webcam window before the video stream kicks in.
  14. Added new setting in avc_settings.xml showOnlyRooms that controls which rooms are shown to the user in the rooms list
  15. Added new setting in avc_settings.xml enableFBandTwitterInvite that controls the status (enabled/disabled) of the Facebook and Twitter buttons from the invite window in AVChat. By default they are enabled.
  16. Added new setting in avc_settings.xml onlyBroadcastersCanViewOtherCams that controls whether or not users can view a webcam only if they are broadcasting their own.
  17. Added link to how to clear your cache blogpost in the related error messages.

New Features For Mobile Client

  1. Added refresh for the rooms list with scroll and release.
  2. The users list is now a left sided panel that pushes the whole text chat to the right when displayed.
  3. Multiple entries for the same emote icon. Any emote icon can now have multiple codes assigned to them. More details in the documentation.(Some things you should know section).
  4. Improved the text chat and users list vertical scroll functionality.

Bug fixes

  1. Fixed moderation bug that allowed users to unban themselves.
  2. Fixed moderation issue that allowed users to become moderators in other rooms.
  3. Fixed displaying and alignment issues that happened if AVChat was in right-to-left mode.
  4. Fixed issue that sometimes occurred when dropping in multiple rooms.
  5. Fixed issue with not being able to remove a room’s password after it has been created.
  6. Fixed issue with some emote icons overlapping with one another.
  7. The login screen now scales accordingly if more than 12 gender icons are being displayed.
  8. Fixed issue with YouTube videos overlapping with the text after the YouTube made changes to its API.
  9. Fixed issue with login screen not being centered vertically.
  10. The admin client now re-scales the statusbar accordingly if the AVChat window is too small.
  11. The text chat UI elements are now better aligned with one another.

Steps to upgrade the old installation:

  1. overwrite all old client side files.
  2. overwrite the media server files and restart the media server.
