Since the new Social Engine version 4 is available and stable, we prepared the integration kit for it.

New Features:

• AVChat 3 settings available directly in the administration area
• RTMP connectionstring now can be entered in the administration area (no avc_settings.php edit needed)
• Admins and users with admin/moderator access to the chat are automatically served the AVChat admin interface instead of the user interface from where they can kick and ban people.
• You can setup the chat to open in pop up window.

Features present in the SE3 plugin too:

• Username/gender integration: users will have the same username and gender in the web site and in the video chat.
• Different features for different user levels, you can control the video chat features independently for each user level.
• Kick and ban people, admins have access to the admin area of AVChat 3 from where you can kick and ban people.
• Profile picture integration: the profile pictures are automatically used inside the video chat.
• Access profiles directly from the video chat: you can access the profiles of users directly from the video chat.
• Easy to access: A link to the video chat is automatically inserted in the main menu.
• Simple install, It installs as any other SocialEngine plugin.

The price for the video chat plugin for Social Engine 4 is $49 (includes the video chat module for Social Engine 3 too) and it’s available when you buy AVChat 3.

There are two ways to open the AVChat Video Chat Component in a pop up in Joomla!:

1. Using Joomla!’s default method:
   • Log in the administrator area of Joomla!.
   • In the Menus area edit the link to AVChat 3.
   • Set the On Click, Open in option to  New Window without Browser Navigation (screenshot below)
   • Click Save.

   

   That’s it! Clicking the link in the menu will now open the video chat in a pop up. Using this method however you will not have control over the pop up dimensions

2. A way that allows you to control the size of the pop up:
   • For this you’ll need to login to your website with an FTP client (FileZilla is our favourite) and go to /components/com_avchat3/
   • Open avchat3.php for editing.
   • Replace the object & embed html tags (everything from <object… to </object>) with this html code:
     <a href=”javascript:void(0);” onclick=”window.open(’/components/com_avchat3/index.swf’, ‘AVChat’, ‘menubar=0, resizable =0, width=900, height=650′);”>Launch AVChat Video Chat</a>

   • Save the file and make sure you upload it back to the web server.

   You can change the size of the pop up by editing the width and height properties in the code above.

As we promised, the  AVChat 3 video chat module for phpFox 2 is ready. Besides compatibility with phpFox 2, this module is more powerful, easier to install and easier to use than the one we had for 1.6 .

Features in the phpFox 2 module:

• automatic user name, gender and profile picture integration
• independent permissions control for each user group (in admin control panel)
• user profiles integration
• automatic integration with the user and admin menus
• it installs as any other phpFox 2 module
• compatible with SEO friendly URL’s in phpFox
