Can I install your software on my web site?

If your web site runs ASP or PHP, or any other server side scripting language, and you have access to a dedicated server with FMIS or Red5 installed on it or to a FMIS hosting account, the answer is a big YES. Read the requirements page for more details on this topic.

Our software needs a media server to send the video, audio and text data between users. If you have never worked with Red5 before, here's what you can do:

  • You can install it yourself on your own dedicated server. You can download Red5 from the official Red5 web site.
  • We can install it and configure it for you on your own dedicated server. Check out the Red5 installation service .
  • You can purchase a dedicated server with Red5 already installed from hostv.com.

What is Wowza Media Server?

How can I use Wowza Media Server?

There are many licenses available for using Wowza including free edition for developers,perpetual licenses, subscription options and licenses for using it on Amazon EC2. You can find more about it on their pricing page here.

My host does not provide media server hosting/services, do I have to move my web site?

No, you do not have to move the web site to a new host. Our software will be installed on your existing host/web site. The media server is only used for streaming audio video and text between the users.

Do my users need any special plugin installed in their browser?

All AVChat software runs in Flash Player 9 or later, which is installed on over 97% of the computers connected to the Internet. Click here to view the official statistics from Adobe.

Can I integrate AVChat 2/3 or AVConference with my users database ?

Yes you can.

We provide some free integration kits for AVChat 2, AVConference and commercial integration kits for AVChat 3. They will automatically handle the integration for you.

If your web site uses other a content management system for which we do not have a integration kit or it is custom made then the integration can be done by you/your developers by following our online guide or by us via the Integration Service

What is the Flash Media Live Encoder?

Flash Media Live Encoder is a free desktop application developed by Adobe which allows you to push, in real time, better quality video and audio to Flash Media Interactive Server.

FMLE can be used in conjunction with AVConference so that users in the chat will see the video/audio stream published by FMLE.

If I do not use the audio/video features of your software (I need only text chat) do I still need a media server?

Yes, all data (audio video text) is exchanged between the users trough the media server.

Is the video and audio sent directly from one user to the other (Peer 2 Peer)?

No, all data is exchanged between the users trough the media server.

The size , the background color, the background image, the panel colors, borders, rounded border radius, the font faces, sizes and colors, etc.... Most of these options can be controlled via CSS.

How many users can connect at once to AVChat 3?

AVChat 3 comes in different versions/prices with different maximum users limits.

Can I view more than one video stream at a time ?

Yes you can, and as a webmaster with access to the configuration files you can also limit how many video streams users can view at one time.

Can I change the quality of the video and audio?

Yes, AVChat 3 offers total control over the encoding settings for the video/audio data. Here's what you can change

Yes.

Does it have emote icons?

Yes, and you can add your own emote icons if you like!

How much bandwidth does it consume?

A typical audio+video steam will use about 256Kbits/s of data. If a user broadcasts such a stream and at the same time is watching a similar audio/video stream he we ill be using 256 * 2 = 512Kbits/s of data.

AVChat 3 will show in real time for each super how much data he is sending/receiving per second. The admin can also see these values aggregated for the entire chat.
