We’ve made a small bug fix to our SocialEngine Integration Kit for AVChat that fixes the following error: Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘Videochat/Mobile_Detect.php’ (include_path=’/home/avchat/public_html/se/application/libraries:/home/avchat/public_html/se/application/libraries/PEAR:.’) in /home/avchat/public_html/se/application/modules/Avchat3/views/scripts/index/index.tpl on line 57 The new build number is 3135 and can be downloaded from your private client area. You can also solve the above issue by editing application/modules/Avchat3/views/scripts/index/index.tpl and replacing Videconference with videconference  (lowercase v).

Hi everyone, In this tutorial I will show you how to setup AVChat and SocialEngine in order to build a paid membership website with 2 member levels where the video chat is a big part of it. AVChat 3, when used with the Integration Kit for SocialEngine 4,  has many options that allows you to differentiate a non paying member from a paying member by limiting access to some AVChat premium features or to the entire chat and encourage non paying members to upgrade. When configured properly this will substantially grow the subscription revenues for your website. The website we are trying to build will have 3 different member levels: visitors (Public) will not be allowed access to website content and[…]

Hello everyone, We have just released a new version (build 3041) of our AVChat Integration Kit (containing the AVChat 3 Module and Who’s Chatting Widget) for SocialEngine 4. We have solved all the issues we encountered so far and added some cool new improvements. Improvements: We introduced a new editable “access denied ” message for when a member level (for example visitors – Public)  does not have access to the chat. This message can be changed for each member level from the SE backend:  Manage > Member Level AVChat 3 Permission. This build ships with pre-defined messages for the Public member level (visitors) and for the Default member level (although these members will not see the message unless they are denied access to[…]

Facebook Application ID field integration in backend. Added default links to login and register page, if you leave the fields empty in SE4 backend. Remember that you need the latest build of AVChat (build 2060)[…]

Ever wondered what users would appreciate on a SocialEngine website? Besides the obvious features found on SocialEngine PHP, the next best thing that we found after we’ve made a survey is that almost all of them would certainly appreciate a video chat application on a site they’re registered. And after installing our video chat plugin for their websites, owners said that users got more engaged and spent a lot more time on their site. Owners also said that at first, the users didn’t know about the extension and didn’t interact to much. So they had to make them aware of the full benefits of the video chat. here’s how they did it: Some of them hosted talk shows using the[…]

Last summer we made a small  silent build of the SE4 AVChat Module with a lot of focus o usability and understanding of features. We spent a lot of time  going over 1) what webmasters would need and 2) the copy. Today we’re taking this work even further with the following updates: automated update procedure from earlier module versions to current one (yeeeessssss finally) with proper version numbering to match the build numbers from your client area. even better descriptions of AVChat 3 permissions in the SE4 admin area removed unused permissions better AVChat 3 global settings bug fixes for the module and for the Who’s Chatting widget To update your AVChat 3 module for Social Engine 4: go to[…]

After a while,  the long awaited Who’s Chatting Widget for Social Engine 4 is here. “Some say a picture is worth a thousand words”. Well I think this applies for the Who’s Chatting Widget too (see the screenshot below). What’s new in the AVChat 3 Module for SE4: Updated to work with the new Who’s Chatting Widget Custom style.css file in accordance with SE4 default colors. Free Video Time value bug, fixed: Until now the maximum Free Video Time value accepted by SE4 was 127. Drop in room default value bug fixed:  SE4 automatically adds value 0 to empty permission fields. Now to disable the Drop in room permission you need to set it to -1, to avoid drop in[…]
