Hi everyone, In this tutorial I will show you how to setup AVChat and SocialEngine in order to build a paid membership website with 2 member levels where the video chat is a big part of it. AVChat 3, when used with the Integration Kit for SocialEngine 4, has many options that allows you to differentiate a non paying member from a paying member by limiting access to some AVChat premium features or to the entire chat and encourage non paying members to upgrade. When configured properly this will substantially grow the subscription revenues for your website. The website we are trying to build will have 3 different member levels: visitors (Public) will not be allowed access to website content and[…]

We are proud to bring you this year’s first build of AVChat that has a lot of major changes and a heap of improvements for both the Flash client and the HTML5 client Here are the new features: 1. Red5 support for the mobile AVChat 3 client is here. Setting it up: The mobile client requires a Web Server: A web server with at least PHP 5.3.10 hosting the chat. Socket support must be enabled. You can use phpinfo(); to check if sockets are enabled. After a normal installation, open avchat3.properties and change the webServerIp setting (new setting) to reflect the IP of your web server. Also you might want to disable some of the red5 logs, because when someone connects from the mobile client, Red5 will[…]

Hello, another hard working month has passed and we were able to implement and add a lot of new features and improvements to AVChat. Here are the major changes we did in this build: 1. We have reworked the whole genders mechanism, now the genders are imported from an external .xml file (genders.xml). This way anyone can add the genders they want to be available in the login area. AVChat now comes with a couple of predefined genders, but all these can be edited or removed, and others can be added. As explained in the XML file, the only thing that should not be changed are the ID’s of the male, admin and hidden genders, but other attributes of these genders[…]

Hello everyone, I’m very excited to announce you that we made some very needed changes to the IP.Board Application! We now support the latest version of IP.Board (3.3.4) and most important, you can now have access to the AVChat permissions from the IP.board backend. Changelog: 1758: changed the tab name from “Flash Video Chat” to “Video Chat” 1678: updated to work with 3.3.4 version. 1650: old naming interfered with the “chat” application from IP.Board so we changed it to “videochat” 1577: minor bug repairs. The installation is made like any other IP.Board application. For update, you need to uninstall our last version (including the files from the actual directories) and after that proceed like a normal installation. Hope you will[…]
